Service Projects
Our annual service projects are Samaritan Purse: Operation Christmas Child, and Independence Hall local nursing home.
Samaritan Purse: Operation Christmas Child
Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Since 1993, over 198 million boys and girls in more than 170 countries and territories have experienced God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts from Operation Christmas Child. In 2022, 200 million shoeboxes have been given to children.
Independence Hall Nursing Home
For many elderly people, moving to a nursing facility can represent a loss of valuable things: their homes, their neighborhoods, their friends, and their independence. By showing that we care, every year in December we bring holiday cheer to one of the local nursing homes with a thoughtfully selected gift, to help ease those feelings of loss. We want to emphasize/teach the children it’s better to give than to receive.
Venezuela Donations/Other Food Drives:
We had a teacher here for many years, whose name was Miss. Hilda. She left us a few years ago to go back to her country of Venezuela. She saw the need there and is there teaching and working among her people in her community and in her church. Our school family generously participated by donating food, puzzles, toys, clothes and shoes for the people of Venezuela.
As we become aware of other “needs” Pride & Joy has cooperated with some of our parents in donating foodstuffs and many dollars to help people here and abroad.
So we thank all of you parents, families, and teachers for your giving hearts. We love you!
II Corinthians 9:7 “…for God loves a cheerful giver.”
